Celebrating the life of

Myra Ann Doudney Anderson

May 15, 1950 - February 22, 2026

Myra Ann Doudney Anderson

Myra Ann Doudney Anderson of DeLand passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. A seventh-generation Floridian, Ann was born May 15, 1950, to Alfred Cecil Doudney and Myra Ann Southward Doudney. Her maiden name was Myra Ann Doudney.

Ann was the eldest of three children and is lovingly survived by her brothers, David Doudney (Angie) of Sanford, FL, and Doug Doudney (Julie) of Orlando, FL. She spent the majority of her life in Seminole and Volusia Counties, with the exception of the last two years, which she and her husband, Robert Thomas Anderson (Bob), spent in Savannah, Georgia, to be near her daughter and receive extra care.

Ann was a loving, thoughtful, and nurturing woman whose generous spirit and kindness touched the hearts of everyone she met. Those fortunate enough to know her admired her grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family and community.

A proud graduate of Seminole High School, Class of 1968, Ann went on to earn both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in special education from Stetson University. On August 11, 1972, she married the love of her life, Robert Thomas Anderson (Bob), in Sanford, Florida. Together, they raised two children, Kristina Anderson VanderBrink (Waylan Green) of Savannah, GA, and Andrew Thomas Anderson of DeLand, FL.

Ann’s greatest joy was her family, including her beloved grandchildren Andrew Anderson, Jr., Hanna VanderBrink, Jacob VanderBrink, and Wyatt Anderson. Her passions extended beyond home and family to include a distinguished 33-year career teaching special education, dedicated service in multiple roles at First Baptist Church of DeLand, ministry work within local prisons, and volunteering with the Salvation Army of DeLand. She delighted in traveling the world and held a deep and abiding faith that guided her life.

A lifelong servant of the Lord and a true pillar in her community, Ann was a long-standing member of PEO Chapter, Tri Delta, and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of DeLand. She was also a generous supporter of many worthy causes.

A memorial service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of DeLand, 725 N. Woodland Blvd, DeLand, FL 32720, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Salvation Army of DeLand, 1240 S. High Street, DeLand, FL 32720, or First Baptist Church of DeLand.
