James “Jim” Edward Myrick Jr., born on July 2, 1968, in Savannah, Georgia, passed away on February 26, 2026, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of Savannah and a graduate from Sol C. Johnson High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Phyllis.
Surviving are his loving wife and best friend of five years, Shelley; his two sons, Jacob Myrick of Orlando, Florida, and Jimmy Myrick (Devon) of Pt. Wentworth, Georgia; daughter Valanie Lowery (James) of Savannah, Georgia; his step-children, Hunter McCord (Bekah), and Sarah Cornett (David) all of Wilmington Island, Georgia; his sister Laine of Savannah, Georgia; his four grandsons and one granddaughter, whom he loved with all his heart, they affectionately called him “Poppi”.
Jim worked at Georgia Port Authority for many years, transporting container boxes from the port to various locations locally. His friends knew him as “Cosmo”.
He was a strong man of faith and had a personal relationship with his Savior, and he loved praying to God about everything and everyone. He grew up at Southside Baptist Church, but in his adult life, was an active member of Islands Baptist Church on Wilmington Island. Jim loved spending time with his wife, doing anything, as long as they were together, camping, building huge sandcastles at the beach or working on his immaculate train set; he was very artistic. He loved his animals, Chewie and James Bond. He loved big and loved his wife and family!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Captain Butlers Retreat on Talahi Island, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. His family welcomes anyone who would like to join.
