Celebrating the life of

Randall Eugene Davis, Sr.

Passed away on February 16, 2026

Randall Eugene Davis, Sr.

Randall Eugene Davis, Sr., 59, peacefully passed away at home on February 16, 2026, after a long but valiant fight against kidney disease. A lifelong Savannahian and proud resident of Wilmington Island, Randy was steadfast in his love for his family, his friends, and fresh produce. He was a man known for his unmistakable laugh, tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and unforgettable antics, many of which involved a banana suit.

The heart of Randy’s life was his beloved wife of 35 years, Sherry, his high school sweetheart and partner in every sense of the word. The pride and joy of his life were his two sons, Randy, Jr. and Riley. Every decision he made and every hour he worked was rooted in his devotion to them. He was wholly dedicated to his family, always putting them first and making sure they knew how deeply they were loved.

In 1994, Randy and Sherry opened Davis Produce on Highway 80 in Savannah, Georgia. What began as a simple table on a street corner grew, through determination, faith, grit, and the very best fruits and vegetables in the South, into the Wilmington Island staple it is today. Known as the “Home of the Killer Tomato,” Davis Produce became more than a fruit stand; it became a place where joys were celebrated, burdens were lightened, and everyone who walked through the door felt like family. Customers came for the freshest produce and the best boiled peanuts around, but they stayed for Randy and Sherry’s warmth, generous spirit and welcoming smiles. For 31 years, Randy and Sherry poured their hearts into their business, and the community poured its love right back into them.

Randy had a gift for making people laugh. Many will remember seeing him during Savannah’s annual St. Patrick's Day Parade dressed in a bright yellow banana suit, theatrically laying down in front of police officers and shouting, “Don’t slip on me!” It was classic Randy - lighthearted, playful, and determined to bring joy to everyone around him. Those moments of laughter are treasures his close friends and family will carry forever.

Outside of work, Randy found peace in the woods and on the water. He and his boys spent countless days and nights hunting and fishing in Middle Georgia, putting “fear” in the eyes of every deer and fish. Those trips were more than sport - they were about time together, lessons shared, and memories made.

Randy’s generosity extended beyond the storefront and into his home. Once a year, without fail, he would send Sherry, her sisters, and all of his nieces and nephews on a special “Girls Trip,” making sure they had uninterrupted time to laugh, bond, and build memories together. It brought Randy joy to create joy for others.

Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Hall Davis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry; his sons, Randy, Jr. and Riley; his father, Stan E. Davis; his brother, Rick; his sister, Jennifer; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his immediate family, Randy is survived by his Davis Produce family and a community that adored him.

Savannah has lost a true original, a hardworking businessman, a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, and the only man who could turn a banana suit into a legacy. His laughter will echo in the aisles of Davis Produce, in the fields and rivers of Georgia, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion on Tybee Island, 10 Veteran’s Drive, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 1PM until 4PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation. As of this writing, 92,427 Americans remain on the transplant list.

My heart goes out to Sherry, Randy Jr., Riley & all of Randy's family & friends for your loss. I will cherish over 30yrs of memories of Randy's boundless energy, enthusiasm, & kindness whenever I'd stop by Davis Produce, often, to buy the most wonderful produce. My 3 kids, too, loved going there & would even make Davis Produce a required stop when visiting Savannah during their college years & beyond. Randy would gently tease me, & anyone new to town, as we were trying to understand boiled peanuts or the various types of peas and beans I had never seen before. His dashing out to my car, after loading up all the produce & my kids into the car, with an urgent call for the kids on a banana phone was always a delight. Randy's love & devotion to Sherry & his sons was so evident, & he was so proud of them. Together with Sherry, Randy set the standard so that shopping there was always a fun adventure guided by Davis Produce's helpful and upbeat employees. May you rest in peace, you will be missed.
