Laura Ann Witten (known to all as Laurie), 84, of Savannah passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Harmony of Savannah.

Laurie was born August 29, 1941, to Oswald and Hilda Howell in Detroit,  MI. After the family moved to Florida, she graduated from Pompano Beach High School. Laurie was always active in her children’s activities. She was also a volunteer, at libraries and galleries in the towns she lived in. She loved reading, bridge, book club, art, and music. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Savannah and sang in the church choir.

Laure is survived by her husband, Joe Witten; daughter Cheryl (Jorge Garcia), Witten of Rowayton, CT and San Sebastian, Spain; son Michael (Jennifer) Witten of Bothell, WA; grandchildren Matthew and Kate; sister, Carol Bridgham and partner, Marlene Young.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Hilda Newell, and beloved grandmother, Laura Wallace.

A service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Skidaway Island (3 Westridge Road, Savannah, GA 31411) on February 25 at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the music fund at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

GUEST BOOK

Mary and I are very sorry for the loss of Laurie. We extend our condolences to Joe, Cheryl, and Michael and the rest of her family. I have known Laurie since she first met Joe in the early 1960s. Laurie had a very positive attitude. I never heard her say a negative thing about anyone. I had the honor of being in Laurie and Joe's wedding party accompanying her sister Carol. Laurie and Joe graciously included me in many outings.
