Celebrating the life of

Marilyn Louise Potts

September 07, 1946 - November 01, 2019

Marilyn Louise Potts

Marilyn was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Newton Elementary School and graduated in 1964 from Cooley High School.

Her first job was at Superior Detroit Company. Her employment history displayed signs of continual success in the various jobs she had during the next 48 years. When retirement time arrived, Bob and Marilyn retired on the same date of February 1, 2012.

Marilyn met the love of her life in 1965 through a mutual friend. This became a 54 year love story with Bob and Marilyn being joined in marriage on January 15, 1966. Bob was on military leave and only had a brief time with Marilyn to honeymoon in Niagara Falls before he returned to Base.

They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Keith and Erik. During the boys’ youths, the family lived in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan where they owned a gas station/party store.  After this 10 year adventure, they moved to Anaheim, California for the next 31 years. They retired on February 1, 2012 together.  In early 2012, Bob and Marilyn moved to Savannah where they established a whole new set of best friends from the neighborhood and church.

Marilyn loved her involvement in church activities, scrabble, bunco (which she ran for a while), book club and Island events. She was always ready to help anyone with any task.

Marilyn’s passing occurred in the very early morning hours of Friday, November 1 lovingly surrounded by Bob, Keith, Shelley, Erik, Heather, and her sister, Barb. Additionally, she is survived by five grandchildren and one great grandson.

A celebration of life gathering will occur on Saturday, December 7 at 2 PM at the Skidaway Methodist Church, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah. In keeping with the families wishes, anyone attending the celebration, please wear bright colors and no black.

Dear Family and Friends of Marilyn Potts, I am sad to hear of Marilyn's passing and offer you my sincerest condolences. Marilyn was truly a special and beautiful person so full of life and love. Marilyn and I were colleagues at Chapman/Brandman University. As a consummate professional, she worked hard and always got things done. And most importantly, she always had such a positive attitude -- even when things were challenging. She was a pleasure to work with and I was better because of her. Sincerely, Jan
