Theodore

Theodore (Ted) Goodwin Easterlin, Jr, 83, of Savannah, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 19, 2026. He was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina, on July 23, 1942. Ted was preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Mixson Easterlin, his parents, Theodore G. Easterlin, Sr. and Amanda Elizabeth Riley Easterlin, his parents-in-law, Benjamin and Allie Mixson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Julia Ann and John Frederick Gooding.

Ted was a graduate of Ridgeland High School and was voted "Most likely to succeed" by his classmates because of his abilities and ambitions. After high school he attended college for a short time and then began his work career. He worked at Westinghouse for 5 years and then went to the Postal Service where he retired after 25 years. After retirement he worked at Palmetto Electric as an investigator for Operation Round-Up. He retired there in 2014 after 23 years. He was in the workforce for a total of 53 years.

Ted was a former member of Ridgeland Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years. He served as a deacon and Chairman of the Deacons, served on the pastoral search committee, nominating committee, and headed the building committee and the rebuilding of Ridgeland Baptist Church in its current location. He was also involved with the church ministry of teaching Sunday School at Ridgeland Nursing Home for over 20 years. "Well done thy good and faithful servant."

Ted moved from Ridgeland, SC when he remarried in 2003 and made Savannah his new home. He became a member of Compassion Christian Church and was a faithful member there for 20+ years. Ted loved working outside and hunting and fishing were his favorite sports. He always had funny and entertaining stories to share, especially about his hunting and fishing adventures with his best friend, Pinky Rushing. We are so blessed and thankful to have had him in our lives and will love and miss him so much.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Dianne Hagins Easterlin, brother-in-law David M. Hagins, stepchildren, Brian Edward Williby (Kelly), Allison Lara Snider, and Lane Elliott Williby (Jacqueline), his step grandchildren, Avery, Brayden, and Charley Williby, Colby Snider, and Kason and Kinsley Sanders. He is also survived by his two special nieces, Ann Gooding Chamberlain (Warren) and Amy Gooding Coates and 6 grand nieces and nephews, as well as many other friends and family.

Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, followed by an 11:00a.m. funeral service at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel. The service will be delivered by our dear friend Reverend Ed Ayers and Ted’s nephew, Royce King. Burial will be at Ridgeland Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Brian Williby, Lane Williby, Brayden Williby, Colby Snider, Warren Chamberlain III, and Royce King.

GUEST BOOK

Our sincere condolences to Diane and family. We met Ted when he and Diane moved to Hunter Ln and we became instant friends. Walking the dogs was something we had in common, and we share many stories while walking them everyday (he walking 3 dogs while we walked only 1). He was a joy to be around and kept you laughing with storoes from his past. We thank God for allowing Ted to pass our paths. Rest in peace. Until we met again

Sorry that we could not be there today. We will continue to pray for peace and comfort. "Uncle" Ted was one of a kind! He will me missed.

Diane, Ann & Amy I'm shocked to be reading this and my hearts broken as you all know how much Ted has always meant to me. I was married in his home 50 years ago as his sister Julia Ann was like a second mother to me. Ted was a wonderful man and will truly be missed. I'm so sorry I missed his service. May God give you all the strength for the most difficult days ahead.
