Celebrating the life of

Ann Evans Manchester

January 21, 1934 - January 20, 2026

Ann Evans Manchester

Ann Evans Manchester passed away on January 20, 2026, one day before her ninety‑second birthday. Born on January 21, 1934, in Statesboro, Georgia, she grew up with a love of learning that shaped the course of her life. She attended Agnes Scott College, later graduating from the University of Georgia, and went on to earn her Master of Library Science from Emory University. Her passion for books and knowledge found a natural home there, where she served as a reference librarian and became a trusted guide for countless students and researchers.

Ann filled her days with the things she loved most. She was an avid duplicate bridge player, a devoted reader, and an active member of Skidaway Island United Methodist Church. She also gave her time to the women’s board at Bethesda, offering her energy and care to the community around her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Paul Thomas Manchester Jr., with whom she shared a long and full life. She is survived by her children—Paul Thomas Manchester III (Melinda), Virginia Brooks Manchester, Margaret Manchester DeNeergaard (John), Alice Manchester Miller (Eddie), and Emily Bleke (Eric)—as well as nine grandchildren who brought her great joy.

Those wishing to honor Ann’s memory may make donations to Hospice Savannah or Skidaway Island United Methodist Church.
