Celebrating the life of
Mary Ann Wetherbee
October 30, 1956 - December 21, 2025
Mary Ann Wetherbee, age 68, entered into eternal rest on December 21, 2024, following a short but courageous battle with carcinoma cancer.
Mary Ann was born on October 30, 1956, and grew up in Savannah, Georgia, where she built a life rooted in faith, service, and hard work. She was a proud graduate of Windsor Forest High School, Class of 1974.
A devoted mother, Mary Ann’s greatest pride and joy was her beloved son, Joseph, who preceded her in death in 2017. Though the loss of her son was profound, her love for him never faded. Those who knew her find comfort in the thought of their reunion—surely a precious and joyful one. She is also preceded in death by her parents Bob and Jo Hendley of Savannah.
Mary Ann was a faithful member of Compassion Christian Church, where she served on the parking team, offering kindness, dedication, and a welcoming presence to all. Her servant’s heart and steady commitment reflected her deep faith. She was also known as a hardworking woman who took pride in serving others and doing her best in all she undertook.
Mary Ann is survived by her brother, Robbie Hendley of Savannah; her niece, LeAnn Pound of Savannah; and her three great-nieces, Amya Pound, Bryann Pound, and Cambry Pound, all of Savannah.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, in Savannah. Pastor Drew Humphreys will officiate. Interment will follow immediately at White Bluff Presbyterian Church with her son, Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and gifts may be made to Compassion Christian Church.
Mary Ann Wetherbee will be remembered for her strength, her faith, her devotion to Joseph, and her quiet service to others.
Eternal rest grant unto her oh Lord. let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Some of my favorite childhood memories are the days we spent playing at the houses on Vernonburg, along the river, fish fries and school recess. May she rest in eternal peace

We loved Mary Ann and Joseph very much. She had a very hard life, but she remained faithful and served God through it all. She was as good a mom to her son as any mom could possibly be. We visited her four days before she died and as we were leaving, I said something that made her laugh. That is how we will remember her. When we were told that she had passed away, I thought, she's gone from a boarding house to Paradise. Thank You Lord!
