Ouida Nell Troughton

Ouida Bevill Troughton, 98, died peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Ouida was born in Egypt, GA, one of eight children to Edward and Matilda Bevill.  She attended Appling County Schools until she graduated.  In 1950, she married the love of her life, Leon B. Troughton Jr.  Above all, she was a wife, mom, grandmother, and homemaker.  She worked for the telephone company, an insurance company, and ultimately retired from the Purchasing Department of the Chatham County Board of Education. She was a woman of faith and was a member of First Christian Church on Victory Drive, and later, Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Edward and Matilda Bevill, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon B. Troughton Jr., her children, Donna M. McMillan, and Leon (Ben) Troughton III (Kathy), six brothers and sisters, Evelyn Hill (Doug) of California, Maxine Blackston (Ruben) of Savannah, Nathan Bevill (Opal) of Atlanta, Ernest Bevill (Tommy) of Savannah, Don Bevill (Edwina) of Sparta, Glenda Michelis (Mike) of Jacksonville, FL, her grandson, Adam Troughton, her great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Redding, Landon Redding and Adam Troughton III.

She is survived by her son, Mark Troughton (Lynn), her sister, Betty Roughen (Jimmy, deceased), grandchildren, Amanda Redding (Rick), Chad Troughton (Brittany), Scott Troughton, and Zack Troughton, her great-grandchildren, Caleb Redding, Dora Salter, Jacob, Mason, and Nolan Troughton, great-great grandchildren, Liam, Levi, Aria Salter, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Special Thanks to the folks at Buckingham South for taking care of my mom for several years.  She loved the residents and staff with all her heart.

A Visitation will be held Monday, December 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel.

The Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Troughton will be at 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2025, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.

Mark, Lynn and Family, we are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Troughton was an amazing, loving and beautiful God loving woman who was loved by so many. We will truly miss seeing her at the family get togethers when we would come visit you all.
