Celebrating the life of
Georgia Ann Rountree
April 16, 1937 - December 17, 2025
Georgia Ann Lucken Rountree, 88, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Georgia was born in Savannah, GA, to George and Isabel (Moore) Lucken. In 1954, Georgia married William Preston Rountree and resided on Wilmington Island where they provided a wonderful home and childhood for their four children.
Georgia spent many years dedicated to her passion of being a wife and mother, always providing a loving and warm environment for her beloved husband and children. During that time, she also invested many hours volunteering at Nativity School and church, and in community activities on the island.
After raising her children, Georgia took on a career as a paraprofessional in local schools. Her final and most loved school was St. Andrew’s School on Wilmington Island. Here she was recognized and applauded by many parents for making sure her students finished all their homework in the after-school program. She had a special place in her heart for all of her students.
Her children, Kathy Rudd (Bob) of Wilmington Island, Nina Maloney of Richmond Hill, Dee Rountree, and George Rountree, both of Wilmington Island will continue her legacy. Georgia was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She spent countless hours rocking babies, one of her favorite past times.
A visitation will from 9:00a.m. until 10:00a.m., Saturday, December, 27th, followed by a 10:00a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Wilmington Island. .
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a donation to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box f13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416. The Hospice team took exceptional care of Georgia and her family during her short illness.
Thinking of you and your family, Nina. What a wonderful life and lady to celebrate and will be greatly missed. Love you guys!

Georgia was a loving second mom to countless children and a steadfast friend to many. Her quick wit and fun stories of growing up on Wilmington Island always kept us entertained. We will miss her positive outlook and friendship but will hold her in our memories forever. I send my deepest sympathy to all the family in this time of painful loss.
