Celebrating the life of
William J. Powers Jr.
Passed away on December 09, 2025
William J. Powers Jr., the man, the myth, the legend, died Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 after a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s. Also known as Mr. Bill and The Chipman, he was born 1948 in Newfane NY. The youngest child and only son of Elsie and William Powers Sr, Bill spent his early life raising hell throughout Niagara County NY. Always a motorhead, he loved anything fast and was known for a lead foot.
In 1970, he married the love of his life, Patricia, in Buffalo NY. Together they had one child, a daughter named Megan
In the early 1990s, tired of the snow and cold weather, Bill, Pat, and Megan moved to Savannah where he continued working for Frito Lay as a route salesman until his retirement in 2010. He was an active member of the Coastal Corvette Association, never losing his love of cars or his lead foot.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Pat, parents William and Elsie, along with sisters Marsha, Judy, and his brother-in-law Bob. He leaves behind his daughter Megan, grandsons Billy and Charlie, as well as his Red-Dinger, sister Marilou (Andy) Nichol, along with countless family and friends.
One of his greatest wishes was to see the Buffalo Bills win the Superbowl, and he’s now a part of the great tush-push in the sky, along with all the fans that went before him. He would ask that whenever you think of him, you give a hearty “GO BILLS!” in remembrance.
Memorial Service will be December 20th, 2025 11AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 3 West Ridge Rd Savannah GA 31411
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Savannah Hospice
I'm so sorry for your loss Megan. He was truly a great friend of my years. We had many laughs over his one liners and stories. He will be missed, that's for sure.
