Doris Lane McLeighton
Passed away on November 30, 2017
Doris Lane McLeighton
Doris L. McLeighton passed from this life into her forever home with Christ at Hospice Savannah, Inc. on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Doris was born in Wayne County on August 20, 1924 and reared by her grandmother Susan Harris after losing her parents at 3 ½ years old. She worked hard to care for 2 daughters and excelled in retail sales later. She retired from Belk’s when they closed the Crossroads store. Then she worked with daughter Beth at City Snippers Beauty Salon. She loved people and spoiled the clients by baking for them daily.
She was a member of Louisiana Avenue Church of Christ for years, but later attended Island’s Christian Church with family as long as she was able. She loved the Lord, was a Sunday school teacher many times, and brought her daughter and their families to know Christ.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Harry C. McLeighton, sister Evelyn Merritt, brother William G. Lane, nephew Billy Lane and son-in-law Robert A. Lewis.
She is survived by 2 daughters Beth Howard and Suzanne Lewis, step-daughter Janet (Serge) Loginow, step-sons Gregg and Steve McLeighton, 7 grandchildren Gina Taylor, Tony Kolhipp, Bobby Howard, Craig Lewis, Pam Parsons, Arnie Howard and Barry Lewis; 14 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces Susan Elder, Nancy Merritt, 1 nephew Carl (Ann) Lane. She is sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
The funeral service will be 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Interment: Hillcrest Abbey West.

It's good to know that your loved one was religious because in this time so many people don't care about God's existence so, may you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about her and bring her back again(John 5:28,29).
- Ruby, Lilburn,
I extend my sincerest sympathy to all the family. I hope you will find comfort in the love of family, the closeness of friends and the sweet memories of a life well lived.
