Celebrating the life of

Jean McCall

October 25, 1941 - November 20, 2025

Jean McCall

Jean McCall, 84, a native Savannahian, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025. She was born October 25, 1941, daughter of the late Glen Elton Lanier Sr. and Margaret Denny Lanier, and preceded in death by her husband, Charles William McCall II.

To know her was to love her. Jean gave unselfishly to others creating rich environments of love and fun. Upon her graduation from Commercial High School, she married the love of her life Charlie, and together, they embarked on the journey of life together.

As a financial services professional, Jean made many life-long friends along the way with whom she stayed connected long after leaving First Federal Savings & Loan Association and H & R Block. Her skills in math and analytical thinking were a perfect accompaniment to her charm.

She volunteered many years with Candler Auxiliary as part of the “Flower Room” delivering flowers to patients. It was one of her greatest joys to bring a little bit of sunshine to their day.

To have an added common interest with Charlie, she took up the game of golf. As with anything she tried, she excelled at it. As a member of Savannah Golf Club, she was excited to have a hole-in-one on the course. She was a favorite partner for bridge and looked forward to many club activities throughout the year. Bingo nights were a favorite and she frequently brought family and friends to enjoy the fun.

To those who loved her most, she was “Mom” and “Nana.” Her devotion to her family never wavered. She offered steadfast support even when she was experiencing life challenges.

After 50+ years of marriage, she started the next chapter of her life with “Widows Fellowship” at Wilmington Island Methodist Church. As part of the inaugural group, she encouraged countless others as she shared her journey. The bond of the “Widows Fellowship” carried her through many trials and she anticipated each Saturday luncheon with her fellow widows.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Hospice Savannah for their compassionate care.

Survivors include her daughter, Terri McCall Jarrell of Richmond Hill, son, Charles William “Chuck” McCall III (Dawn) of Savannah; grandchildren, Brittany Jarrell, Kelli Walsh (Hunter), Lauren Ford (Brandon), Hunter McCall, and Chase McCall, two great-grandchildren, Charlie Ford and Banks Ford,  a sister-in-law, Paulette Lanier, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert W. “Bobby” Jarrell Jr., a brother, Glen Elton Lanier Jr.,  and a niece, Jaime Lanier.

A visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Islands Chapel from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Monday, November 24th. A graveside service will be in Greenwich Cemetery at 11:30a.m. Tuesday, November 25th. with Rev. Doug Walker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either “Widows Fellowship” at Wilmington Island Methodist Church, 195 Wilmington Island Road, Savannah, GA 31410 or Hospice Savannah Foundation, P O Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

At her request, should you come to visitation or the graveside services, she wanted only colorful clothes to celebrate her legacy with you.
