Cody James Ellison, Jr.

Cody James Ellison, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia, age 92 died on September 17, 2025, at his home. Cody was born in Waycross, Georgia growing up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina later moving to Savannah in 1947. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1951, attended Clemson University, served in the United States Marines later attending Armstrong State College. He was employed at Savannah Gas Company and Prudential Insurance Company prior to moving to Columbia, South Carolina where he owned a Volkswagen repair shop in West Columbia, South Carolina for 25 years from which he retired and later moved back to Savannah.
Cody was a former member of Bull Street Baptist Church and present member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Jaycees of Savannah, Shriners, Jamil Temple, and Masonic Lodge in Columbia, S.C. He was a present member of the Exchange Club of Savannah and the Savannah Senior Golf Blitz at Bacon Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cody J. Ellison and Mildred Marie (Morris) Ellison. His Son Cody Ellison III of Sav. Ga., Two brothers: Richard Morris Ellison of Virginia Beach, and Robert Stanley Ellison of Lake City, South Carolina.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Anne Gray-Ellison of Savannah, three daughters: Tamara Melson (Fred) of Columbia, S.C., Amy Davis (Andy) Davis of Savannah, Elizabeth Spivey (Cash) of Charleston, S.C.
Grandchildren: Brandon Ellison, Lacey Ellison Stephen, Matthew Melson, Michael Melson, Jason Melson, Drew Davis, Cole Davis, Emma Davis, Will Sherer, Catherine Sherer and step-grandchildren: David Gray and Delaney Gray of Panama City, Florida.
Visitation will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home, Hodgson Chapel at 10 A.M., Wednesday September 24, 2025, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 A.M. September 24, 2025. Burial in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Cody Ellison was a very sweet man. He will be missed. I will keep you all in my prayers.
