Harold Randolph "Randy" Raymond
September 17, 1930 - September 20, 2025
Harold Randolph “Randy” Raymond 95 passed away on Saturday September 20, 2025 at his home at River's Edge in Savannah, Ga. while under the care of Bridge Hospice.
He is survived by his three daughters, LaRandie R. Holley (Keith), LaJuana R. Cole (Mark) & LaRaine R. DuPuy (Carr). He was blessed to have 6 Grandchildren, Shawn McBride (Dee), Nicole Pingrey (Jordan), Michelle Altman (Kellen), Travis Cole (Christy), MeLissa Hyde (Ray) & Riley DuPuy (Sarah) as well as 9 GreatGrandchildren, Shane McBride, Kainoa Pingrey, Leiluna Pingrey, TK Altman, William Altman, Cole Elmore (Kailee), Aaron Elmore, Will DuPuy & Lottie DuPuy and 3 GreatGreatGrandchildren, Cason, Railee and Colton Elmore.
He is pre-deceased by his wife and high school sweetheart, Joan Surrency Raymond, his wife Betty Raymond, his wife Jeaneane Bishop Raymond and his close friend and companion of many years, Ernestine Kline.
Randy had a big heart and welcomed his step children Karen Spooner (Paul), Charles “Chuck” Bishop, Carolyn McLeod (Glenn) and step Grandchildren Jodi Sheeley, Brooke Bishop and Trace Bishop into his life.
Born in Millen, Ga. on September 17, 1930 to Ruby Lambert Raymond and William Theodore Raymond. As an only child he always joked and said that he was an only child but not the favorite!
He was a very intelligent man with a quick wit that never missed the opportunity to tell a joke and keep people laughing!
Admittedly he did not apply himself in school but did manage to graduate from Savannah High School in 1950 where he participated in boxing and band.
He also received an AB degree from Armstrong State College.
He entered the Navy during the Korean War on 10/14/1950. Stationed in San Diego, CA and assigned to the USS Bottineau. Honorably discharged on 8/16/1954 as a Gunners Mate 2nd class in Norfolk, VA.
On 8/26/1954 he began a 39 year career with Savannah Electric & Power Co. (now known as Southern Co.) at the Riverside Plant and ended his career as the Operations Manager at Plant McIntosh.
Sadly due to his illness, Randy’s generous donation of his body to the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta for education & research was unable to be fulfilled.
A memorial service for Mr Raymond will be at 2:00p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Wilmington Island Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Walker officiating.

I have known Randy for many years. My sister Shirley Weaver and her husband Bruce were friends from the Electric Company Savannah. On a wonderful day I met Randy at one of their luncheons at Barnes. Had so much fun with the funniest intelligent man ever. Randy started picking up my sister for lunch along with sweet Ernestine. I have remained friends with Randy and my sister passed away. Visited and called. Always I love you. I was planning on visiting him but family encouraged me not to come due to Covid. Had knee replacement surgery and found out he had passed. He loved hi his big family especially his daughters. Hr took me under his wing and he was stuck with me. He brought me so much joy and I will miss him terribly GO DAWGS.

I am Randy's first cousin. He was fifteen years old when I was born but he has always treated me like we were the same age. He accepted my Filipino wife when others in the family didn't, and we will never forget that. We talked as often as we could and I always called him on his birthday as I did this year. I wished him a happy birthday, but he only talked for a minute. He said that he was sitting there butt naked waiting for his bath. We laughed, said that we loved each other, and said goodbye. To me, Randy was a special person. He always wanted to keep track of family, and we talked about family every time we had a chance to speak. We always went over the list of those still living as it got shorter each year. There are only three first cousins left, and we are steadily losing ground. I am sorry to hear that his body couldn't be donated as he wanted. He always told me that when they brought him to MCG he wanted to wave as he passed Perkins, GA and then again when he passed me in Augusta. I will miss Randy but will see him again before too long.
