Celebrating the life of

Chris Shaw

Passed away on August 06, 2025

Chris Shaw

Christopher “Chris” Layden Shaw, 50, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Candler Hospital after a long battle with health issues.  He was the loving son of Carl and Janis Shaw Shaw of Savannah.

Chris was a 1993 graduate of Benedictine Military School. He worked for the Crab Shack and Huc A Poos Resturants.

For the past 25 years Chris worked for U.P.S. in Atlanta and Savannah area.   He loved each and every one of these jobs and made many friends along the way.  Chris was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan, even when they were losing, he stood strong as a faithful supporter.  He will be missed by friends and family who loved to cheer the Falcons on along with him.

One of Chris’ favorite pastimes was playing video games after work with his cousins and friends. These gamers will miss him very much.

In addition to his parents, Carl and Janis Shaw, he is also survived by his loving sister, Jennifer Layden Shaw, with whom he had a special bond. He is also survived by his large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, wo cared for him deeply.

The family will have a time of visitation to celebrate his life, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.

Please come by and feel free to wear your best Atlanta Falcons colors.

A private family ceremony will be held for Chris at a later date.

GUEST BOOK

I want to express my deepest condolences. Chris was one of the best people I've known. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have had such a good friend for 45 years. I miss him so much.

- Scott Short, Atlanta, GA

The memories of a lifetime spring forth through your smile. Thank you for all of them and for being my friend. I love you, Chris, and I always will.

- Mike Knabb, Birmingham, AL

The friendship we had in highschool was amazing, but the best was the friendship we formed as adults! I loved our Falcons superstitions we both shared, my favorite, only having a phone conversation if they won. Jennifer has agreed to continue this tradition with me. You also became Uncle Chris to my kids, especially Logan. He loved y'alls gaming chats. I'll miss you forever my friend. Love you, always!

- Elizabeth Rinfrette, Bellingham, MA

Chris you will be deeply missed. I will definitley miss our conversations on the Falcons. Praying for Carl, Janis, and Jenny to find comfort during this difficult time.

- Brett Smith, Savannah, GA

Chris was a great friend back at BC and I always enjoyed running in to him at Huc a Poos. I remember his laugh was infectious and that's mainly what we did when we saw each other just crack each other up. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.

- Michael McCormick, Savannah, GA

I am sorry to see Chris pass. I will carry the memories. Good man.

Chris was unapproachable to many, but not to me. We jibed in a way that was sweet and consuming. He'd had lunch one day with my son(who worked at Molly's) was an "i know you and you know me" situation because he was so much of my work life. I know his health was an issue, but all he said, was how he worried about his dad. Once you got to know him ,he was a teddy bear. I will always look for him ,moving trucks around when night shift has left it wonky, rest peacefully by friend.love,Pooh
