Celebrating the Life of Robert Noboru Yamazaki

With love and gratitude, we honor the incredible life of Robert Noboru Yamazaki, who passed away peacefully on July 30,2025 at the age of 87. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Robert’s legacy of love, service, and innovation will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born on April 1, 1938, Robert dedicated his life to both his family and his country. He proudly served as a U.S. Army Officer, demonstrating leadership, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to duty. After two tours in Vietnam, he retired from military service, as a Major.  He then made significant contributions to the communication satellite industry, helping to connect people across the world.

After his retirement, Robert relocated from Maryland to Pooler, Georgia, just outside of Savannah, with his wife Jean Lorenson. Together, they made their home at Savannah Quarters and Country Club, where they enjoyed a life overlooking the beautiful golf course. This peaceful setting brought Robert great joy, and it became a place where he cherished time with family and friends.

Beyond his professional achievements, Robert enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, golfing, dancing and most of all traveling.  He is remembered for his incredible energy and the joy of life he brought to everyone he met.

Of great importance were his family and his Japanese heritage. He was a loving husband, a guiding father, and a proud grandfather, always there with encouragement, wisdom, and a warm smile. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, he had a way of making every moment meaningful.

Robert is survived by his beloved children: Suzi Kiss, Bobby Yamazaki (Yasuyo), and Simone Yamazaki Wax (Cory) and his cherished grandsons Brandon and Adam Lieberman. He was predeceased by his children Sandra Liberman and Steven Yamazaki, who he now joins in eternal peace.

In accordance with his wishes, Robert will be cremated and interred at Arlington National Cemetery, where he will be honored for his service to his country. A celebration of Robert’s life, limited to immediate family and close friends, will be held at home at a future date, where they will gather to share memories and honor the incredible man he was.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Army Historical Foundation  PO Box 96281 Washington, DC, 20090 part of  National Army Museum, The American Lung Association or a charity of your choice, reflecting his lifelong values of service and giving back.

Robert lived a life full of purpose, passion, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
