Celebrating the life of
John Christopher (Chris) Carpenter
March 21, 1959 - July 04, 2025

Chris Carpenter, a beloved resident of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born on March 21, 1959, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Chris moved to Savannah with his family in 1969, where he spent the majority of his life. He dedicated his career to serving others as a biomedical electronics technician. His work played a quiet but vital role in supporting healthcare and improving the lives of many. Known for his sharp mind, steady hands, and compassionate heart, Chris earned the respect of colleagues and the love of those who knew him.
Chris was the kindest, most chill person you could ever meet. No one could ruffle his feathers, and he truly had no enemies. He had a natural ability to connect with people and could talk to anyone. Everyone who met Chris loved him—his calm presence, gentle humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
He also had a passion for cooking and found joy in sharing good food with the people he cared about.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, John Carpenter, and his nephew, Michael Merriman (son of Lynn and Gary Merriman). He is survived by his mother, Melanie Carpenter; his sisters, Lynn Merriman and Kelley Kuhn (Greg Kuhn), his Brother in Law Gary Merriman; and his nephews: Brian Merriman (son of Lynn and Gary) and Andrew, Robert, Jeremy, and Aaron Kuhn (sons of Kelley and Greg).
He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Details regarding a memorial or celebration of life will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
My heart is saddened to hear of Chris passing. He was definitely a special person in so many ways. Sending everyone much love and peace.

It saddens me to read that Chris has received his call from this life. I knew Chris reasonably well from his work in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Memorial Health. I was a laboratory technologist and relied on Chris on many occasions to repair and service our medical equipment. I could always trust Chris to troubleshoot a problem AND keep our equipment in good working order. A quiet, good human being who will be missed. Peace to his family.
