Celebrating the life of

Joanne Lair

July 12, 1957 - June 23, 2025

Joanne Lair

Joanne Lair, 67, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, and is now in her Heavenly Home. She was born in Savannah to James and Jimmie Lair on July 12, 1957. Joanne was deeply loved by her family and friends and will always be remembered fondly. She leaves behind two daughters, Melinda McDonough (Dustin) and Michelle Joyner (Chris), as well as four grandchildren: Konner, Austin, Donovan (Samantha), and Nicholas. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Futrell (Jim), brother, Charles Lair (Debi) sister, Celia Lair, her sister-in-law, Sonja Lair, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joanne began her working career at an early age at Byrd’s Cookie Company, where she progressed to the position of manager. She later worked at Kroger, Piggly Wiggly, R & R Restaurant Supply, Walmart, Bi-Lo, and was still employed at Whitmarsh at Publix. Always a joyful soul, she was known for offering a shoulder to lean on when needed. She treated her fellow workers and customers with kindness.

Her sister Linda and brother-in-law Jim felt a profound sense of loss in their home without her. They had been her caregivers for eight months and cherished the kindness, laughter, and shared moments they had together. There will never be another "Josie"; she brought joy to those around her, and no one can take her place. During her hospital stay, her daughter Melinda remained by her side day and night, holding her hand as she took her last breath on earth and her first breath in heaven.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.
