Passed away on May 30, 2025

Barbara G. Brooks, 88, died at home Friday morning May 30, 2025, after several years of failing health.
Barbara was born in Savannah, Georgia on March 29, 1937, the eldest daughter of the late Marjorie Reed. She graduated in 1954 from Savannah High School. She attended Graduate School International Accountants Society and took numerous courses at the Department of the Navy and Beaufort Technical College.
Mrs. Brooks was Comptroller and a Director of Leopold Adler Corporation from 1965 to 1975.
In 1975, Mrs. Brooks began as an accountant at The Marine Corps Recruit Depot Club System, Parris Island, South Carolina and advanced until she retired as the Director of The Depot Club System in the early 1990's. Many Savannahians will remember Barbara and her dog Bandit from Littlejohn's on Jones Street.
Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She was a talented designer, and her home and gardens were exceptional. Barbara, also, had a great love of animals and donated to many of the rescues.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by her sister Evyonne Sweeney, brother James D. Reed and stepson John R. Brooks of Brunswick, Georgia.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas L. Brooks; daughters, Carol Lancaster (Stan) of Levy, SC and Lisa Lee Moore (Burt) of Tybee Island, GA; and a son, Dr. Thomas L. Brooks of Nahunta, GA; a sister, Diann Brooks of Dover, DE; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date and held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors-Islands Chapel.
