Celebrating the life of

Elizabeth Massey

Passed away on April 24, 2025

Elizabeth Massey

Elizabeth Massey, aged 87, known to most as Betty, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 24th.  She was predeceased by her son Trey, and is survived by her husband Con Massey, her children and their spouses: Beth and Jim Caffrey, Kelly (daughter in law) and David Koch, Matt and Kim Massey, Mike and Shenna Massey.  Several wonderful and rambunctious grandchildren were the light of her life-Morgan Ford, Brynn Aylward, Chandler Grey, Riley Nordman, Claire Massey, Campbell Massey, Elizabeth McWhirter, Ethan McWhirter, Cole Massey, Rachel Urban and Jake Massey.

She even had 7 great grandchildren: Jack, Chase, Vail, Sloan, Smith, Mason and Shepherd.

Betty was born in Memphis, TN, then at age 7 after her father’s death, her mother moved her and her brother to Franklin, TN, where she   spent most of her upbringing.  She was an avid basketball player and held an office in every club that she joined. She attended the University of Tennessee where she met Con Massey, the love of her life, to whom she would be married for almost 66 years. The two of them were avid travelers and together, they visited over 60 nations. She enjoyed playing tennis, bridge and eating ice cream. She was a devoted Christian and raised all her children to be lovers of God. Since the family moved several times, Betty started and led 3 home home Bible studies. She had a wonderful faith community in the Savannah area, and she loved her Lord.  As her children remember her daily phrase, “Remember who you are”

Her presence is deeply missed by all who knew her.

No local memorial service will be held.

People talk about marriages made in Heaven, well, Con and Betty were definitely one of them. What an EXTRAORDINARY couple! What a wonderful example they set for the rest of us to attempt to follow. We love them both dearly, and we thank God for putting them in our lives.
