Richard Mell Coleman Sr.

Richard Coleman, 73, passed away December 21, 2017 after a long illness at The Brian Center (Hendersonville, NC) while under the care of Four Seasons Hospice.

A native of Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Coleman was a 1962 graduate of Benedictine Military School. He served in the Georgia Army National Guard and the Chatham Artillery. He went on to play football at Clemson University before transferring to the University of Georgia where he earned his business degree. He was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until his illness advanced. He is a past member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.

Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard M. Coleman Jr., brother, Tom Coleman and sister, Marie Coleman Harper.

He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Coleman Bivins (Bill); grandchildren, Elizabeth Parker Bivins, Madison Taylor Bivins, Ayden Olivia Coleman and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on April 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 1003 East Victory Dr. with the burial following in Catholic Cemetery.  Reception to follow the burial at 307 Kinzie Dr., Savannah, Georgia.
