Charles William "Chuck" Farrell passed away on May 10, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Chuck was born on August 17, 1947 in Omer, MI to Lt. Col. Ret. Lee James Farrell Jr. and Clementine Stansbury Farrell. He graduated from Athens High School in 1965 and set off for the University of New Mexico, where he quickly flunked out. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and became a Special Operations Green Beret. Fortunately for him, the Vietnam War ended before he was scheduled to deploy, allowing him to continue his journey without seeing combat. Once he returned, he finished his degree at the University of Georgia.

Chuck moved to Savannah in 1975 and started his career working as a salesman for Southern Marine Industrial. He quickly learned about the wire rope business. After a few years, he decided to strike out on his own, founding Port City Industrial & Marine Supply in 1979 which is still operating today. He also met the love of his life Judy whom he married 1976. They shared 41 wonderful years together until her passing in 2017.

Chuck enjoyed many things but nothing more than his love for golf and cards at the Savannah Golf Club. If he wasn’t at work or home, he was there. That was his home away from home where he made many friends. His other joy in life was his love for golden retrievers. Nothing made him happier than having a pocketful of treats and a golden by his side.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Mullis Farrell; his parents, and his sister, Sally Farrell Beeson. He is survived by his children, Jeff Farrell (Lori) of Statesboro, GA, Erin Belford of Hillsborough, NC, Leigh Farrell Heimes (Chuck) of Savannah, GA; his grandchildren, Lucy and Nat Lyons and Stella and Charlie Heimes; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Chuck will be remembered for his quick wit, unwavering loyalty, and the ability to make everyone around him laugh. We will miss his stories, his jokes, and his bluntness—but most of all, we will miss him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jules Victor, Dr. George Negrea, and Dr. Michael Hasselle for their exceptional care; to THA Hospice and Shelly Vajk for their compassionate support; and to his wonderful caregivers, for the love and care they showed Chuck in his final days.

The family will receive friends at The Savannah Golf Club on May 16th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
