Robert "Bob" Pounder

Bob passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, He was born March 11, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia, son of the late Dennis J. and Helen Dennard Pounder. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Brown Pounder, and his brother, Lt. Colonel Dennis J. Pounder, Jr., and a sister-in-law, Martha White Pounder. Bob attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Benedictine Military School in 1954. Bob graduated from the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina in 1958, with a degree in business administration. He served six years in the Army National Guard and artillery training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Bob was employed for 10 years at Commercial Credit Corp. in Florence, South Carolina and Winston Salem, North Carolina. In 1970, Bob joined Savannah Bank & Trust, First Union, Wachovia National Bank (Now Wells Fargo National Bank) and retired as assistant vice president after 22 years. He then joined Union Camp Federal Credit Union (Now Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union) and retired after eight years of service.

Water skiing, crabbing, fishing, and shrimping was his thing. Bob was a former member Hibernian Society, being elected to membership in 1977. Following the death of his beloved wife, Elizabeth, Bob was fortunate to be blessed with love and support from his longtime friend, Ms. Connie Vereen. 

Bob is survived by his three children: Dana Pounder Adams (Jay) of Greensboro, NC, Andrea Pounder Audesey of Highlands, NC, and Robert Wyatt Pounder, Jr. (Shawna) of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Matthew Adams, Rebekah Adams Lemons, Benjamin Jenkins, Walter Audesey, Mariah Audesey Rhoads, Aidan Pounder, and Avery Pounder; three great-grandchildren, one brother, William Thomas Pounder of Macon. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Melissa Pounder. 

A visitation will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:30, and a 11:00 Memorial Mass. The interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers the family espectfully request that donations be made to help cure Juvenile Diabetes to the Juvenile Diabetes Charity; Camp Kudzu, 1145 Hightower Trail, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30350.
