Celebrating the life of

William "Gene" Evans

September 03, 1957 - March 30, 2025

William

William Eugene Evans, known as Gene to any and all he knew, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 in Suffolk, Virginia with his daughter by his side.

Gene graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1975, then went on to spend 6 years in the United States Navy where he served as Combat System Lead Technician.  Most recently, Gene worked as Senior Principal Cybersecurity Analyst for Northrop Grumman.

Gene enjoyed being involved with his grandchildren and helping them learn as much as they could.  He would often do this by reading to them and teaching them about life.  When he wasn’t enjoying time with them, you could see him researching the bible and building his digital collection of movies and cartoons.

Gene is preceded in death by his father John Thomas Evans Jr., his mother Elizabeth Rose Palmer Evans, his brother John Thomas Evans III, his sister Mary Ellen Owen, his sister Sondra Elizabeth Rack, and his brother Robert Anthony Evans.  He is survived by his brother Michael Joseph Evans, his brother James David Evans, his children Sean William Evans and Barbara Elizabeth Evans, and their mother Fiona Turnbull Brooks, and his step-son Sheldon Robert Kinsler.

Services will be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral home, Hodgson’s Chapel on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.  Visitation will be from 10-11am, a short service will follow at 11am, burial to follow at Catholic Cemetery of Savannah.  1720 Wheaton St. Savannah, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the COPD non-profit organization AlphaNet.
