Celebrating the life of

Laura Falligant Kinzie

October 18, 1936 - March 15, 2025

Laura Falligant Kinzie

Laura Falligant Kinzie, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. Born in 1936 in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Raiford Falligant Jr. and Nellie Sutherland Falligant. A proud graduate of Savannah High School and Armstrong State College, Laura lived a life filled with service, faith, and love for her family and community. Throughout her life, Laura was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church; first St. John’s, then Holy Apostles and St. Thomas, where she contributed as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and was an active member of the Choir. She also served as the president of the Daughters of the King, a reflection of her deep faith and commitment to God.  Laura’s heart for service extended beyond her church, as she volunteered with the Red Cross and the Girl Scouts, dedicating her time to causes she cared deeply about. In addition, Laura was part of a unique outreach that touched many lives through a clown ministry at local nursing homes, and a camp dedicated to bringing smiles and fun to children who faced challenging circumstances. Laura had many passions that brought joy to her life. She was a Master Gardener, loved to travel, and found peace in the beauty of nature, often enjoying the wildlife around her backyard pond. Singing in the choir was another source of joy, as it allowed her to express her love for both music and faith.

Laura was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John (Jack) Harris Kinzie V, and their son, John (Jay) Harris Kinzie VI. She is survived by her two loving daughters and their husbands, Christine (Gary) Vickers and Caroline (Jess) Godbey, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jesse (Po) Godbey, Eleanor (Cheng) Chow, and Mitchel (Taylor) Godbey. Laura’s legacy of kindness, faith, and service will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 21st. at 1:00 p.m. at Bonaventure Cemetery, followed by a service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at Isle of Hope at 2:00 p.m.  If desired, donations in her memory may be made to your local animal shelter.

Laura will be deeply missed, but her sweet, sweet spirit will continue to inspire all who loved her.
