March 27, 1951 - March 08, 2025

George Joseph Bouchea, Jr. (Jody)

Mr. George Joseph Bouchea Jr. (Jody), 73, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025.

George was born in Savannah, Georgia, to the late George Joseph Bouchea Sr. and Margaret (Berry) Bouchea. He was the eldest of two brothers, John Patrick Bouchea and Maurice Lawrence Bouchea.

Jody was a dedicated communicant at Cathedral Bascilica of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He attended the Cathedral Day School and later graduated from Benedictine Academy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Corporal and earning several Army medals before completing his tour of duty. He also served stateside in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After his military service, Jody had a distinguished career as a Chief Fire Marshal for Savannah Fire, where he served for many years. Public service and family were the two greatest joys in his life.

In the later years of his life, Jody faced health challenges following the sudden passing of his beloved wife, Deborah Anne Montgomery Bouchea. He is survived by his son, Jason Christian Bouchea (Melissa), his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Ann (Bouchea) Brady (Sidney), and six grandchildren: Joseph Michael Bouchea, Margaret Lilly Ann Bouchea, Zachary Christian Bouchea, Garrison Roosevelt Duncan, Camron Ro’mello Duncan, and Vada Elease Duncan.

He is also survived by loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.

Jody's family will miss his kind heart, dedication to service, and love of life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A. Visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel, Tuesday, March 18th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be at 11:00, Wednesday, March 19th at Greewich Cemetery.

Jody was one of my closest friends in the old neighborhood. He was the singer in our band back in the 60s. Rock on, Jody-mon. Say hello to Chris P for me. Maybe we can get the band back together when I get there .
