Celebrating the life of

Deanne Wigh

July 19, 1943 - February 12, 2025

Deanne Wigh

Deanne was married to Russ Wigh March 6, 1966, in Dalton, GA and moved to Atlanta for his job and her career. In the early years of her marriage, following graduation from the University of Georgia with a BSEd, she taught Spanish in Atlanta high schools. After leaving the teaching profession she concentrated on raising her family. For ten years before moving to Savannah she was a buyer of furnishings for a contract purchasing firm in the Atlanta area.

Deanne was an avid tennis player and runner. She played league tennis in Atlanta rising to become an A level player, and she captained her teams both in Atlanta, and at The Landings, competing in Savannah league tennis. During her years of running she completed both the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C., and the New York City Marathon. However, her first love was always her family, and the arrival of grandchildren brought her and her husband to live in Savannah in 2001.

She is survived by her husband Russell J. Wigh and a daughter Kristen Wigh Goodman (Brad), both of Skidaway Island; brother, Willis Dobbs of Atlanta, and sister Nancy Dobbs Scarbrough of Cumming, Ga. There are three beloved grandchildren, Natalie Kate Goodman, M.D. of Winston Salem, NC, Brett Allen Goodman and Catherine Elise Goodman, both in academic programs in Atlanta, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests you consider a gift in Deanne’s memory to either Hospice Savannah or the American Cancer Society.
