Celebrating the life of
Judy Carter Nease
Passed away on February 22, 2025

Judy Carter Nease, 87, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Memorial Health with her husband and close friends by her side.
Judy was always up for a challenge and jumped in with enthusiasm. It may have been promoting the Garden History of Georgia throughout Georgia; starting her own real estate business out of the trunk of her car or being in the 3-day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer. It may have been fighting a fish, swinging a golf club, snorkeling in the Abacos, or riding a jet ski. Whatever it was Judy gave it her best.
Judy was the only child of Cecil and Geraldine Carter. She was born January 14, 1938, in Waycross, GA in the Waycross Hospital. After a short stay in Alma, GA, the family moved to Orlando, FL. It wasn’t long before World War II broke out and they moved to Savannah. Judy was educated in Chatham County, graduated from Commercial High School and continued on at Armstrong Junior College. Upon graduation she became secretary to Jack & Earl White, owners of White Hardware, the largest hardware supplier in Savannah at the time.
Across the street from White Hardware, Darvin Nease caught her eye. They were married on November 5,1966. Judy became the typical homemaker and garden clubber. After serving as the Garden Club of Georgia Ways and Means Chairman, she decided to get back in the business world in 1978. Judy started her own real estate company, Savannah Realty, in 1985, later in 1996, Judy Nease Realty was formed. After more than 25 years in real estate, Judy chose to semi-retire in 2003 but then went on to be the Managing Broker for Cora Bett Thomas Realty and Relocation Specialist at Seabolt Real Estate.
During Judy’s stellar career, she became a member of many professional societies, including Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, Luxury Portfolio, Mayfair International Realty and Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate. She has earned National Association of Realtors emeritus status as well as a spot in the Distinguished Sales Society.
A longtime volunteer, her community work and outreach was extensive. She was appointed to serve a term on the Savannah Economic Development Authority’s Board of Directors and was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Savannah.
Judy became active in the Savannah Sport Fishing Club and the Judy-Judy very seldom left the dock without her on board. There were golf club memberships in Savannah and Hilton Head making golf weekends and golf trips frequent. After moving onto the river in 2000, The Wilmington Island Club provided frequent rounds with her friends and Darvin when he also retired. Trips to the Florida Keys and Abacos developed Judys interest in snorkeling. But after moving onto the river, there were many clear summer days that she could be found in the Wilmington River on her yellow Sea-Doo. Regular sessions in the YMCA gym and longs walks around Wilmington Island become a lifestyle.
Surviving is her husband, Darvin Nease of Savannah, her goddaughter, Laura Novy of Tampa, Florida, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Coastal Care Partners for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to Judy.

I’m so sorry for your loss Mr. D. You know how I felt about Mrs. Judy. Being there with y’all making sure y’all both were god was a great pleasure. I’m gone s cooking those creamy grits with her bacon. I will cherish all the great moments we had. From drinking our Diet Coke and eating popcorn to going out taking our rides having our conversations and her giving me so much wisdom and courage. The best part about working with Coastalcare is meeting great people and they becoming like family. Judy I’m gone miss you so much, you became such great friend. I will forever remember your smile.

When we first moved to Savannah Judy was our first contact. Not only did she help us find a home here but she took us under her wing and introduced us to the community. That assistance turned into a friendship that lasted. Judy was fearless and super active but also very caring and compassionate. Her kind are rare and she will definitely be missed.
