Meredith Jones Heaslip

Meredith Jones Heaslip died peacefully on Feb. 3 at The Oaks, Savannah, GA. She was born on June 30, 1929 in Bradley Beach, NJ to Joseph and Harriet Jones and graduated from Asbury Park High School. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 and was a member of the cheerleading squad and president of Kappa Alpha Theta. She married Clifford Heaslip in 1951 and spent many years as a homemaker before entering the field of Special Education, earning her Masters Degree in 1977. She taught in a pre-school special education classroom for a number of years before becoming head of the child study team, testing children of all ages and making recommendations for programs and remediation. She lived in Monmouth and Bergen counties in New Jersey, moving to The Landings upon retirement in 1993. She was an avid tennis, golf player and bridge player, and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Cliff. They moved to The Marshes in 2017. She was pre-deceased by her husband Clifford, her infant daughter Donna, and her sister, Shirley Severence. She is survived by her children, Leslie Wengenroth and her husband, Ray, her son Jeff Heaslip and his wife Helen, and her son Neal Heaslip. She enjoyed the times she spent with her 7 adoring grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and her many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 10:00 at the Skidaway Island United Methodist Church. Donations in her memory can be made to Colgate University, 13 Oak Drive, Hamilton, NY 13346.

Meredith was a dear and close friend. I admired her for all the many activities that she took on along with all the entertaining that she and Cliff did. They were a fun couple and always great to be around. Meredith will be missed but not forgotten
