Mable H. Workman

Mable H. Workman

Mable H. Workman, 78, of Richmond Hill, GA passed away peacefully at her residence on January 17, 2025.  Born July 21, 1946, in Startex, South Carolina to the late Columbus Few Howard and the late Myrtle Leona Brock.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur E. Workman Jr. of Richmond Hill, GA and her daughter Kelli Workman Echols of Richmond Hill, GA; son-in-law Chandler B. Echols.  In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sister Shirley G. Praytor of Startex, SC; husband Charles, son Wade of Myrtle Beach, SC, a daughter Joanna (Godfrey) of Woodruff, SC, a son Tim, of Charleston, SC, and a niece Lynn Bentley of Wellford, SC.  She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Howard of Startex, SC.  She was also survived by her beloved cats Poppy and Winnie.

After completing her post-secondary education in Spartanburg, SC, she was married in Greenville, SC. and, in 1970 moved with her husband to Nuremburg, Germany where she worked at American Express as a mobile banking manager.  Through the years, Mable worked in a variety of financial fields until retirement in 2005 from Regions Bank (corporate stock transfer, payroll, insurance, and CFO support operations) in Thomson, GA. 

Her life was enriched by her steadfast Christian faith, deep love of family, and the closeness of dear friends.  Mable enjoyed her home, crafts (founder of Mable’s Soap Works), and traveling; having crossed America several times, visiting a wide range of islands, and vacationing in many European countries.  Mable’s legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at the residence (55 Sabal Dr., Richmond Hill, GA 31324) on Sunday, 26th of January between noon and 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor her life may be made to Savannah Wildlife Rescue Center or the charity of your choice.
