Celebrating the life of

James Barry Brown

September 20, 1946 - January 15, 2025

James Barry Brown

Barry went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 15, 2025 after a year long battle with cancer.

He very much loved his family and friends. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to him. Deane, was his everything—wife, best friend, heart, and soul.

His passions were baseball, football, fishing, and being outdoors. He played, coached, and loved baseball his entire life. He was a dedicated Braves and Bulldog fan.

Barry was a graduate of Groves High School and Georgia Southern University. He was a member of the Green Berets in the Army National Guard and was passionate about his love of country and politics. He had a successful accounting career until his retirement in 2010.

After retirement, Barry was an active Papa. He diligently attended every school, athletic, and holiday function. A particular joy was dressing as Santa for the children. Papa will be greatly missed. He will never be forgotten for what he meant to his family.

Barry was preceded in death by his father James Jesse Brown, his mother Iris Barbara Brown, and his brother Larry Anthony Brown. He is survived by his loving wife Helen Deane Brown; his sons Barry Cooper Brown and Richard Brian Brown; his daughters Rachael Smith-Heath, Tara Smith Helmly, and Evelyn Alexandra Daniel (Cecil); his grandchildren McKall BroockSloan (Joshua), McKenna Reid Bowman, Ansley Morgan Korzik (Matthew), Caroline Olivia Brown, Caleb Cooper Brown, Victoria Ashley Daniel, Lansing James Daniel, and Crawford Alexander Daniel; two great grandchildren KrewBentley Bowman and Maverick James Korzik; and his siblings Terry Michael Brown (Debbie) and Diana Robin Brown Pintar(Ted); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
