Celebrating the life of
Nancy T. Fitts
July 10, 1933 - January 07, 2025
Nancy T. Fitts, born on July 10, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Jacqueline Durham Norwood and James "Jimmy" Norwood, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia with her son, Scott, by her side. She was 91 years old.
Nancy grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where she later built a fulfilling life centered on family, faith, and community. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Fitts, and her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Charles Tidwell. Nancy is lovingly remembered by her three sons: Steve J. Tidwell (Katie), Scott G. Tidwell, and Sidney V. Tidwell (Jenny); her four step-sons: Albert Fitts (Nina), Barry Fitts (Merry), Ben Fitts (Emily), and Paul Fitts; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Blake Tidwell VanNice (James), Brock Tidwell, Aaron Fitts (Taelor), Merrill Fitts, Joey Fitts (Patty), Grace Fitts Knight (Trevor), Lily Fitts, Luke Fitts, Will Fitts, Brittany Fitts, Megan Fitts, Aubrey Fitts; and great-granddaughter Hailee Mae Fitts. She was predeceased by her beloved sisters Libba and Connie and survived by many nieces and nephews. No one could mistake how much they were loved by her and how much they loved her back.
Nancy enjoyed a vibrant life filled with travel, reading, and the joy of being surrounded by her family. She was known for her hospitality and delighted in opening her home for family gatherings. Alongside her husband Joe, she embraced adventures across the globe and was deeply active in her church community at Perimeter Church in Johns Creek, GA.
Professionally, Nancy worked as a realtor in Atlanta before retiring to Hoschton, Georgia. In recent years, she resided at Thrive Assisted Living in Savannah.
A visitation will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Nancy’s warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
We send our love and prayers for comfort. Aunt Nancy was the personification of love and grace. We were so blessed by her our entire lives.
