Helen Jewett Weitz

Helen Jewett Weitz, 77, passed away peacefully at home Monday, January 6, 2024.

Helen was born and raised and lived most of her life in Savannah and was educated in Savannah public schools. Her career encompassed selling specialty advertising, insurance administration, marketing and public relations and probate court.

Growing up in one of the most beautiful cities in the world gave her a love of art which she pursued all her life. She was also involved in ballet performances throughout her life. She was a loving person to all she met and loving to all animals.

Helen was a long time member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.

She was pre-deceased by parents Bradley Lane Jewett and Jane McDaniel Jewett and brother Bradley Lane Jewett, Jr. and husband, N. Harvey Weitz. Survivors are her son Tom (Allie) Drew of Atlanta, and sister Bonnie (Peter) Delvers of Savannah. She also leaves step-sons Trace Weitz of Aiken and Adam Weitz, St. Augustine. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of cousins and in-laws.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14 at 12:00 noon followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive. Burial will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.

I first met Helen at Savannah High School where we shared a few classes. She had a great sense of humor and we laughed a lot. We both were in musical productions at the Savannah Little Theater, not the same ones, but we bonded over the theatre and a love of music. She will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I have known her for a long time. We were together at Charles Ellis, Myers, and Savannah High where we often competed against each other in variety shows. Helen's jazz routines were wonderful. We worked in community theater together with the last musical being a Savannah Theater Company production of "Camelot." We were in Girl Scouts together for years. Helen was always optimistic and encouraged everyone to do their best. She will be missed by many for her gentleness, humor, and kindnesses. Thanks Helen for the many good times.
