Celebrating the life of

Diane Sutton Tracy

September 03, 1942 - December 25, 2024

Diane Sutton Tracy

Diane Sutton Tracy, 82, died peacefully on Christmas Day after a brief illness.

Diane was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the only child of Robert and Margaret (Sands) Sutton.  She was part of the first graduating class of Upper St. Clair High School in 1960.  Diane went on to earn her BA from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA and taught high school business classes in St. Petersburg, Florida where she was introduced to Jerry Sellars by her life-long friend Teddi.  Diane and Jerry were married in 1965 and moved to Pittsburgh, PA where they started their family.   Jerry's career eventually took the family to Savannah, GA where Diane would remain for the rest of her life.

Jerry passed away in 1987 and Diane eventually was remarried to Richard (Dick) Tracy in 1991.  Dick had a very large family spread from Virginia to Hawaii and Diane greatly enjoyed the annual Tracy family reunions.  Dick and Diane spent many great years together at The Landings and traveling.  After Dick's passing, Diane would spend the next decade traveling the world with family and friends.

Diane leaves behind her two children, daughter Christine Sellars Holley and her husband David and son David Sellars and his wife Wendi, her beloved granddaughters Sutton Sellars and Abby Sellars, and countless cherished friends.

Diane will be remembered by her friends for her generosity and her tireless charity work for her church, Skidaway Community Church, the Savannah Philharmonic and Safe Shelter.  She was at her happiest when she was planning something, whether it was a church festival, a fundraising gala, a music concert or an international trip with friends and family or arranging flowers for the church.  She was always ready with a story, a joke or pearls of hard-earned wisdom.    Her children, however, will remember what a wonderful mother she was.  From standing in line for hours in the snow for concert tickets for them, sewing clothing and Halloween costumes to cooking meals "a la Diane" (which just meant that she had no recipe and was making it up as she went) she devoted her life to her children and leaves a void that cannot be filled.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a donation to Safe Shelter in Diane's memory at www.safeshelter.org or P.O. Box 61119, Savannah, GA 31420.
