Celebrating the life of
Kumi Robbins
May 31, 1949 - December 02, 2024
Kumi Robbins, 75, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Atlanta, GA. Born in Nagoya, Japan she was the youngest of eight girls. She met John Robbins of Forest Park, GA while he was stationed in Japan. She was a secretary at the army base and they were introduced by mutual friends. She moved to the US after marrying John in 1970. They made Savannah their home in 2017. She is predeceased by John who passed in 2018. She is survived by her daughter, Erika, son-in-law, Jesus, and her granddaughters, Ava and Lila, of Savannah. She leaves behind family and friends in both Japan and the great state of Georgia.
Japanese by birth; American by marriage and naturalization; and most proud to be Southern by the grace of God, Kumi was known and adored for her quick, dry wit. She was a no nonsense, practical, Christian woman. She retired from Delta Airlines in 2001. Kumi valued her privacy and was exceptionally talented in gardening, sewing, crocheting, cross stitching and knitting. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching football and public TV, and stayed physically active by doing her own yard work.
For someone who wasn’t fond of cooking, she made several dishes that were family favorites but her deviled eggs were the most coveted dish of all. She favored donuts and never missed a chance to indulge her sweet tooth. She is missed by those who had the chance to know and love her.
Final resting place is to be determined.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Erika, I’m so sorry for your loss. Quick wit is what I most remember Kumi for. She was always quiet but would pop up with something funny at the drop of a hat when we were young. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers and we love you all. She is probably joining your dad and Mam Rae in a game of trivial pursuit ❤️

I hadn’t seen Kumi in a long while but I have fond memories of her and her sense of humor. She and I had matching Mr Bubble T-shirts back in the 70’s. She will be missed so much by many, especially her close family and friends in Savannah. Much love and condolences to you Erika and your family.

Kumi was my sister in law and I loved her dearly. We shared so many life events through the years. We married brothers: Kumi and Johnny December 1,1970 and Tommy and and I December 26,1970. We raised our daughters together with many family gatherings through the years and so many wonderful memories. I will miss you so much Kumi.
