Bruce Ricker Elder

February 17, 1940 – November 24, 2024

A native New Englander from the Boston area until he retired, Dr. Bruce Ricker Elder found a second life in Savannah, Georgia. His activities centered around his antique cars, Freemasonry, and long-distance boating. He served as Commander of Tybee Light Power Squadron with rank of Senior Navigator, marched in St. Patrick's Day parades with the Scottish American Military Society and the Mobile Unit of Alee Shrine. A long-held dream was fulfilled in 2007 when he and his wife, Jeanne, completed the Great America Loop, a waterway route to circle the Eastern US.

Dr. Elder was born in Quincy, MA on February 17, 1940, to Burton Foy Elder and Beatrice Ricker Elder and raised in Hingham, MA. As an adult, life was focused on raising three sons, completing his medical training and subsequent obstetrical-gynecology practice in Norwell, MA. He was a private pilot, a license earned while on active duty in the Air Force. He was an avid fly fisherman with memberships in the Flycasters of Boston and the Miramichi-Renous Club, New Brunswick, Canada.

After a lengthy illness, Dr. Elder passed away on November 24, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne Foster Elder, and his sons Scott Bruce and wife, Nadine DeLuca, David Foster, and Carl Ricker and wife, Amy McKay. He also leaves two granddaughters, Diamira Elder and Maria Ann Elder, his sister Janet Elder Yeutter and six nieces and nephews
