Richard M. Carufel, Sr.

Richard Maurice Carufel Sr., 84, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Memorial Health.  He was born on November 24, 1939, in Pawtucket, RI to the late Maurice Edward and Rose Keenan Carufel.  Mr. Carufel graduated from Commercial High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth McCall Carufel, and his grandson, Nathaniel Carufel.

Surviving are his children, Krista C. Tompkins (Tommy) of Savannah; Carlie C. Baccus of Midway, GA; John Weatherford (Diane) of North Augusta, SC; Richard M. Carufel, Jr. of Savannah, GA; Timothy Carufel of Pittsboro, NC, and Michael Carufel of Savannah, GA; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Greenwich Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., prior to the graveside at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.
