Mary (Harriette) Lucille Cathleen Baker Koeller, 97, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia. 

Born on May 30, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, Harriette was a graduate of Calumet High School in the south side of Chicago.   Harriette was introduced to her future husband, Raymond Koeller, on a blind date arranged by Ray’s sister Mary Lou, who remained a lifelong friend.  Harriette and Ray were married in 1949 and lived in Champaign Illinois where she worked at the University of Illinois to support her and Ray while he completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering. 

In 1952, Harriette and Ray moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Ray began his career at Standard Oil of Indiana. During this time, Harriette dedicated herself to her growing family and welcomed two sons. In 1962, the family relocated to Wilmette, Illinois, where they lived for 26 years.  Harriette was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was active in a variety of church and community organizations.  She and Ray were members of the Michigan Shores Club, the Wilmette Sailing Club, and the Wilmette Golf Club. 

In 1988, Harriette and Ray retired to The Landings on Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia, where they enjoyed an active and fulfilling retirement. Harriette was an avid golfer, bowler, tennis player, and an astute bridge player. She was also a gifted cook, authoring several cookbooks that are cherished by family and friends.  After Ray’s death in 2009 she stayed in their home at The Landings for many years, clearly enjoying the independence that came along with being in charge.  She spent her final years at The Marshes on Skidaway Island. 

Harriette and Ray shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a loving family and enduring legacy. She is survived by her two sons, Paul R. Koeller (Susan), and David M. Koeller (Paula).  She also leaves behind five grandchildren and countless friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
