January 25, 1932 - October 09, 2024

Helen

Helen "Sandy" Becker Lance, 92, went to be with her Lord and  Savior on October 9, 2024. She was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia and was known to her family and friends as "Sandy" a nickname her soon to be husband, Paul, gave her. They were married for 67 years. Paul served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. Being an Air Force wife Sandy traveled with her family to other countries and states before returning to Savannah with her husband and son Mike. Paul and Sandy built a cabin in the mountains of Brevard, North Carolina, Paul's home town, and spent their time between the two homes.

She was a woman of faith and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She enjoyed line dancing for many years and loved to garden having been a member of the Kensington Park Garden Club. She was a member of the Alee Shrine Ladies Auxiliary and also served as a poll worker during elections.

Sandy was a strong, feminine, devoted wife, mother, grandma "Bami" and great-grandma. Her first grandchild, Jamison, gave her the nickname "Bami" and ìt stuck for the rest of her life! Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Paul, son Mike, two brothers Lewis Jr. and Ferrill, sister Martha Jane and parents Lewis and Lena Becker.

Sandy is survived by her daughter Becky Messerly, daughter-in-law Debbie Lance, grandchildren Jamison Machen (Kyle ) and Kaitlin Lance-Young (Marc), four great-grandchildren and nephew Danny Becker. We love and will miss you Moma, Sandy, Sweet Bami Love, Love.

GUEST BOOK

So very sorry to hear of Sandy’s passing. She and Paul were wonderful people and she will be missed.

- Frank and Bobbie Stephens, Thunderbolt, GA

I am so very sorry to hear of Mrs. Sandy’s passing. The family will be in my prayers! She was the absolute sweetest lady! I had the pleasure of getting to know her and Mr. Paul throughout their time at Habersham House. I will always remember Mrs. Sandy for her positivity and her unwavering love for Jesus, even in the darkest days of losing her husband and son. The strength she has was admirable! Mrs. Sandy had a heart of gold - she will most definitely be missed! I look forward to seeing her again one day, and even though her eyesight will be restored - I still look forward to hearing, “Katie, is that you?”
