Celebrating the life of

Sondra Mae Perry (Sitzman)

August 29, 1938 - September 27, 2024

Sondra Mae Perry (Sitzman)

Sondra Mae Perry (Sitzman), affectionately known as “Mammu”, went home to Jesus on September 27, 2024. A longtime resident of Tybee Island, she was born August 29, 1938, in Lincoln, Nebraska to LaVerne Kreifels and August Sitzman.

Despite her Midwest roots, Mammu loved the beach and all that it represented. Her trek from Nebraska to Georgia began in Glenville, Georgia, which she remained fond of given many memories as a young girl playing with her cousin Mary. Her step-father’s job transfer brought her to Savannah and eventually to Tybee Island. Her appreciation for the sun and tanning was surpassed by two things: her love for her Savior and her deep affection for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than being outside watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing in the pool and making messes.

A loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was dedicated to her church family at Chapel By the Sea where she enjoyed worshipping and serving. She will be missed by many, but her deep faith brings joy, hope, and peace knowing she is in the presence of the one, true God.

She is survived by her daughters: Wendy Mills and Julie (and Steve) Redlinger; son and daughter-in-law, William and Tiffany Perry; sister and brother-in-law Trinda and Roy Brunner; several nieces and nephews, grandchildren: Madison Gray, Hannah Evans, Meagan Redlinger, Sarah Lewis, Dustin Bunker & Bryan Lewis; and eight great grandchildren (Easton, Zechariah, Mathias, Ava, August, Paisley, Lily, and Emsley).

Pre-deceased by her husband, William Perry, Jr., brother Larry Purcell, and daughters Tanya Evans and Jill Senterfitt.

A private, graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Chapel By The Sea (P.O. Box 235, Tybee Island, GA 31328).

A candle has been lit!

Sondra was a very close and dear friend of mine. We worked together in the Credit Union Industry for several years; and at Summer Breeze Senior Living Community in Savannah. We had so much fun working together, sharing our experiences, daily lives, family and friends ! Sondra loved her family so very much; and was so proud of their accomplishments. She had the best sense of humor and a great attitude about everything. My life, and the world, has certainly been enriched and made brighter by having her in it; and we all will love and miss her always. We know that she is now reunited with her Bill, Tanya and other loved ones. What a reunion that must have been, because she has missed them all deeply. My deepest sympathy to her Family during this most difficult time. May God bless and comfort you with peace; and warm and wonderful memories of your precious Mammu❤️ With love and prayers, Nancy Harrison-Watson North Augusta, S.C.

I am so saddened by Sondra's passing, I worked at Summer Breeze while she did hair for our lovely residents for over 10 years. We became very close. She loved my family like her own and we would often have lunch together. (Her favorite was Krystal's and Krispy kreme doughnuts.). She was a very sweet and special lady and I'm so glad to have had her apart of my life fpr so long. We have so many fun memories to hold on too and I will never forget them. Thoughts and prayers for her sweet family, who she loved so dearly! Lori Dickerson

You will be so missed mammu. I love you so much, she was my best friend I remember all of the vlogs we made of doing our makeup. She always made sure I was doing good in school. She absolutely loved when I went to church with her, when I would tell her I’m going to church with her she would literally get up and dance. She was so full of love, she would make sure I called her every single night because she loved her family so much. I miss the girl nights we had, doing nails, making slime , and watching a movie while she scratched my back. There is so many great memories. She helped me through everything. She would tell the whole family I was her #1, she was a very great and inspiring women. I miss you so much mammu. (Mammu the great) fly high

Sondra was a most precious gift that we looked forward to every year as we ventured south to Tybee. I adored our friendship and the stories she shared. Much love and prayers to all.
