Winifred Mcloone Walsh

Winifred “Winnie" Walsh was born in the South Bronx on May 8, 1932 . Her parents Bridget and Patrick Mcloone immigrated from Ireland to the US and had 6 children. Winnie’s siblings included John ,Patrick , Vincent, Julia and Teresa. Winnie attend St. Patrick's Cathedral High School in Manhattan where she received the General Excellence Award .
In her 20’s, she worked on the New York Stock Exchange as a bond trader for Halsey, Stuart and Co. She married Donald W. Walsh in 1961 and settled in NY. They lived on Long Island until they relocated to Spring Lake Heights, NJ -a neighboring town to where they had met in Avon on summer vacations.
In Spring Lake Heights they raised five children, Paul, Denis, Mary, Donald and Tim. As a member of St. Catherine's Parish, Winnie loved singing in the church choir . She also enjoyed going to the beach, gardening and writing.
She is survived by her aforementioned children and grandchildren, Patrick, Ian, William and Charlotte and her daughter in-laws Maryellen Walsh and Desirae Walsh.
Her devoted husband Donald passed away in 1993.
In 1998 Winnie relocated to Savannah, GA. In Savannah, Winnie reignited her love of writing and published 5 books . She also earned her BA from Armstrong University at the age of 78. Winnie was a member of Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist Parish in Savannah, and enjoyed being a member of its choir.
In Savannah, Winnie had many wonderful friends and incredible neighbors . They were truly a God send to her and she loved them dearly. Also in Savannah she had “Ozzie”, her West Highland Terrier (Westie) whom she adored.
Winnie absolutely loved her home in Savannah where she passed away surrounded by family in the comfort of her home.
