Celebrating the life of
Cooper Kenneth Nelson
February 14, 2006 - August 25, 2024
Cooper Kenneth Nelson, 18, died Monday, August 25, 2024.
Cooper was born on February 14, 2006 in Ormond Beach Florida, adopted at birth by Danny and Kathy Nelson of Savannah, Georgia.
Cooper attended Hesse K-8, Blount Boys Academy and Calvary Day School. Most recently, Cooper was employed at his father’s company, The Nelson Group, where he was a positive member of the crews.
Cooper enjoyed motorcycles, tricked out cars, writing lyrics and poems, and his two cats. Cooper did not enjoy cleaning their litter boxes. Cooper was also an avid and talented self taught drummer, heard nightly at the house. He had a very big heart, and bigger ideas. Cooper often struggled finding his path in this world. While certainly not his intent, he is now free from those struggles, and we can all hope and pray that he finds his way in a better place. Hopefully, he will once again be in the loving arms of his mother Kathy…..her “little project”.
Cooper is survived by his father, Danny Nelson; his grandmother Bonnie Wimer (“Geems”); his aunts, Pam Logue, Rebecca Wimer and Georgette Nelson; his uncles, John Wimer, Dana Nelson, and Jerry Logue; and his cousins, Anna Wimer Schell, Joseph Wimer, Daniel Wimer and Michael Wimer.
Cooper was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Nelson; two grandfathers, Harold Wimer (“G-Dad”) and Gary Nelson; and his great Uncle and namesake Kenneth Sunderman (“Uncle Ken”).
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider making a donation to the Cooper Nelson Park Place Outreach Endowment Fund at https://givebutter.com/CooperNelsonEndowment .

I always looked after him when he had no where to go. Being one of my true longest friends I was always trying to set him straight. Bro had so much potential and to see him go is just saddening. As a friend who's been through alot with him this hurts to hear this. Rest in peace brother. I pray you are resting in peace

Cooper was always one of my best friends and always there when I needed him. He always tried to make sure the people around him were okay. I’m at a loss for words on this. I’m truly going to miss our talks about everything and always trying to help each other through everything. Cooper was a strong person, he was kind, he was funny and he will be missed deeply. Rest easy coop
