William Arthur Farmer
May 16, 1936 - July 30, 2024
William Arthur Farmer, known fondly as Bill, passed away peacefully in his home on July 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old. Born in Buffalo, NY, on May 16, 1936, Bill led a life of dedication, service, and community involvement.
Bill graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s, he later continued his education where he graduated with several other degrees. Bill's professional journey began as an engineer at Martin Marietta in Orlando, Florida. He later transitioned to academia, serving as a professor at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. His career flourished in public service as he dedicated many years to being a City Manager in Georgia, notably for Tybee Island, GA, and County Manager for Springfield, GA and City Manager in Mt. Dora Florida.
A devout member of St. James Catholic Church, Bill contributed as the church's finance director. He was also the President of the Pine Hills Civic Association and served as a volunteer firefighter. His commitment to his community was evident during the last thirty years of his life, which he spent at The Landings, where he was the first General Manager of the Landings Association and an active member of the Board of Directors.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Marie, and their three children: Sue, Mike, and Sharon. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought great joy to his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. James School in Savannah, GA.
Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors are overseeing all arrangements. A private Christian service will be held in his honor.
Bill's legacy of service, love, and commitment to his family and community will forever be remembered.

To Marie, Julia and I just learned of Bill's leaving. What a wonderful, smart, kind and gentle person. He was the kind of man all men should aspire to be like. He never forgot our names even thought we would see you two only occasionally on your bikes riding the Island. Likable form day one and admired for his personality we hope you find comfort in knowing you had a great husband.
