Celebrating the life of

Terry Lane Rush

Passed away on July 29, 2024

Terry Lane Rush

Terry Lane Rush, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Born August 5, 1947, in Charlotte, NC, Terry’s family soon moved to Savannah, where she grew up as a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, graduated from Savannah High School, married and raised three sons.  She worked at Carey Hillard’s for several years, where her bubbly personality made her a favorite with staff and customers alike.

Terry enjoyed crafting and making beautiful flower arrangements and gifts for others. She was an amazing cook whose culinary skill was revered among family and friends, who vied for an invitation to supper whenever she was preparing her legendary pot roast recipe. Terry, a “natural cook” was in her element in the kitchen where she created countless memorable meals for the people she loved; her recipes, a family treasure, will be passed down for generations to come.

The primary focus of Terry’s life was her three sons. Dedicating herself to their upbringing and well-being, she put them first in all things. Additionally, she was a maternal figure to all the neighborhood kids, and even hosted Halloween Carnivals in her yard, where her creativity and amazing sense of fun were displayed to full effect.

She was a loving grandmother, and great-grandmother, who took immense pride in sharing news of activities and accomplishments with family and friends. Terry was a devoted friend to all who knew her, and she will be remembered as a loving and gentle soul who brought joy to those around her, everywhere she went.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Robert James Lane, Jr. and Elizabeth Costner Lane, and her brother Robert James (Bobby) Lane III.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Donald Rush Jr., Tony Rush, and Paul Rush, her sister, Tina Hardy and brother, Steve Lane, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024, at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.

A Celebration of Life service for Terry will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel, with interment to follow in Greenwich Cemetery on Bonaventure Road.

A candle has been lit!

I was extremely saddened to hear the news of Terry’s passing What an amazing human being she was and I will forever cherish the memories we shared over the years. When it came to Terry, family was her everything. She adored her siblings and oh how she loved her boys, all of them. (Nephew Shawn included) She was their biggest cheerleader and always their biggest fan. They always knew she was there for them, no matter the circumstances. Donny, Tony and Paul were her most treasured accomplishments and she would shout it from the highest rooftop for all to hear! My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I know that Terry would want you all to be celebrating her life and how she LIVED. She will forever be with you
