Celebrating the life of
Stephen Daniel Ward
July 20, 1959 - July 10, 2024
Stephen Daniel Ward, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born July 20, 1959 in Bradenton, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Dorcas Ward. Stephen owned a construction business and also worked for the I.L.A. #1475 for fourteen years. He loved God, his family, deep-sea fishing, and hunting. While sitting in a tree stand, or out on the water in the ocean, he felt close to God. He lit up a room every time he walked in. He would do anything for anybody who needed him, he was loving, considerate, understanding, and forgiving.
Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to laugh, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ward, three daughters, Stephanie Danielle Ward (Kevin Pryor), Courtney Ward (Duncan Beerman), and Ashley Robinson (Carlos Robinson). He is also survived by three sisters, Melanie Edwards (Sam – deceased), Phyllis Weil (Arthur), and Beth Smith (Terry Brennan), his brother, Mark Ward, four grandchildren, Trevon Brown (Morgan), Justin Brown, Carleah Robinson, and Kora Ward, as well as one great-granddaughter, Millie B. Brown, and lots of beloved nieces, nephews, and fishing and hunting buddies.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.

A Tribute to Joyce: Traditional Marriage vows usually read like this… “I, Joyce___, take thee, Steve___, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part. The word "hold" is a vow to maintain affection and tenderness and to cherish each other and the relationship you share. You are fully committing to each other’s physical and emotional needs,” I have never seen such care and commitment as what I have observed Joyce give to our brother Steve. Her unwavering devotion to him was remarkable and honorable. Steve told me often how grateful he was to Joyce for her love and care. One day, I suggested to Joyce, that there may come a time when she might need help in giving care and maybe she would consider having him moved to Hospice. She said, “Oh no, we have already talked about that and he wants to stay in his home, in his bed, and that is what we are going to do. I will take care of him because that is what he wants.” The words of this hymn describe your relationship… a verse from an Irish melody, aptly named, Joyce’s Old Irish Folk Music and Songs, 1909. “You and You only are first in my heart; Ours is a union that never will part. And held in Your love, without doubt, without fear. I know now within me that heaven is here.” Thank you Sister for your enduring love for our brother. ❤️ Fifi Weil
