Thelma Ann Dodd

November 23, 1939 - June 26, 2024

Thelma Ann Dodd

Thelma Ann Dodd, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on June 26, 2024.

Thelma was born on November 23, 1939 in Riceboro, Georgia to Isaac Henry and Lennie Knight Dodd. She graduated from Commercial High School in Savannah, Georgia. Thelma served as a legal secretary for the Kravitch Law Firm and at Union Camp/International Corporation. She married her soulmate, and the love of her life, Karl Harris, on September 11, 1985.

Thelma was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Port Wentworth, Georgia. She enjoyed traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Thelma was a meticulous decorator, which included instructing Karl on how to precisely decorate their front porch each Christmas season. As an avid Rummikub player, she and Karl were known to play until the wee morning hours. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and her passionate spirit.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by two brothers, James Knight Dodd and Ernest Gene Dodd; her sister, Joyce Dodd Smith; her stepson, Hal Harris; her nephew, Gene Dodd; and the "best dog ever", Clancy. She is survived by her husband; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law; two granddaughters; many loving nieces and nephews; and another best dog ever, Margot.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 30th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home (7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive). A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 1st at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Port Wentworth. Burial will be at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Thelma's favorite charities: Samaritan’s Purse and the Salvation Army of Chatham County.
