Celebrating the life of
Patricia Pinckney Lowenthal
Passed away on May 29, 2024
Patricia Pinckney Lowenthal died peacefully on May 29, 2024 at age 87. She was born in Bluffton, SC to Annie Haye and Joseph Oliveros Pinckney. Tricia, as she was fondly known, was raised on a farm as the eighth child of nine. She will always be remembered for her loving, caring and devoted spirit.
Tricia was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. She was employed most of her nursing career by Memorial Medical Center Pediatrics Department but also worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Savannah, and for the Public Health Department in Bellville, Il.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernard J. “Butch” Lowenthal, Sr., grandson Bradley Stone, her parents and all of her siblings: Frances Cahill, Marie Viens, Betty Nantista, Clara Rowland, Ollie Pinckney, Linehan Pinckney, Carroll Pinckney, and Genevieve O’Connor.
The true joy of her life was her five children, whom she is survived by: Susie Harvey (Dave), Bernard J. Lowenthal, Jr. (Julie), Clare Kellar (Chris), Carol Stone (Randy), and John Lowenthal (Kristi). Tricia was also blessed with many grandchildren and is survived by: Ryan DeLettre (Jenn), Corbin Parker (Christen), Brennan Lowenthal (Chrissy), Grayson Lowenthal, Peyton Lowenthal, Shannon Brinkley (Danny), Adam Kellar (Carly), Megan Groves (Ryan), Colby Stone, Erin Stone, Matthew Lowenthal, Merritt Lowenthal. She is survived by her great-grandchildren: Langston DeLettre, Avery DeLettre, Cameron DeLettre, Madeline Parker, August Parker, Phoebe Moon Parker, Sullivan Parker, Jackie Lowenthal, Edith Kellar.
It was early in her life when she found her calling for unselfish caregiving as she traveled north to assist her siblings in caring for her young nieces and nephews at the young age of 15. In her long nursing career, especially in pediatrics, as well as in her devotion to serving her faith community, she continued to exemplify compassion, generosity, and charity. For her many selfless years of service to the Catholic Church, Tricia was the recipient of The Diocese of Savannah’s Bishop Gartland Award. For demonstrating abiding faith and compassionate good deeds, she received the St. Vincent’s Academy Mother McAuley Award. Ever the nurse on and off the clock, everyone who crossed her path in life received her genuine gift of caring that no award can come close to honoring.
A special thank you to her own army of tireless caregivers, led by Beverly and Erica, who treated her like family, especially at the end of her life, and who helped the family navigate the many challenges Tricia faced in her final years.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church followed by a Rosary Service at 9:30 and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m.. Burial immediately following at Pinckney Colony Family Cemetery.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family for the loss of your sweet Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother. She was SO sweet and treated me like a member of the family. She even picked up shrimp for me to have at my daughter’s engagement party about 14 years ago. I know she will be greatly missed by so many people. Love, Betty Ann & Chris

The memories that come flooding in are like a warm blanket. Living with my grandparents there were several years that I saw Aunt Tricia and Uncle Butch for Church then breakfast at Sunrise. She is a part of some of my most cherished memories and will be missed deeply, but left her imprint on this family for 100% certainty.
- Damon Smith ( DiBenedetto), Savannah , Ga
We were Butch and Tricia's neighbors on Melody Drive. Family medical emergencies or problems were quickly solved by Tricia's love and concern and care. The only words I ever heard her speak were words of kindness and love. Tricia gave her gift to all. She rests in Peace and Joy!

I remember fondly our years at school in Bluffton. I believe Patricia was with us through the 10th grade and we all missed her greatly after that. I always thought we’d get together for lunch one day and now I’ve waited too late for that. But I know for certain we’ll all be together again in the hereafter and I’ll wait for that.

To the entire Lowenthal crew: Remembering your mother with such fondness and all of you in my prayers. I have no doubt she is enjoying her eternal reward - earned in no small part by the extraordinary hospitality she showed me for many years.
