Barbara L Hooks, 86, passed away peacefully at Hospice Savannah on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Barbara, affectionately known as Mema by her family, was born in Bulloch County, GA on December 19, 1937. She was a graduate of Commercial High School in 1955.

She worked at Levy’s Department Store for 25 years and later retired from Jordan Marsh. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Invincible Bible Class, and the Alee Temple Shrine Antique Classic Unit.

In addition to her parents Frank F. Lee and Ester M. Lee; she is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Doy T. Hooks, Sr. and sisters Frankie M. Rogers and Lila A. Newton.

Barbara is survived by daughter, Pamela L. Pinckney (Artie); son, Dennis A. Lisle; brothers, Waymon H. Lee, Edwin L. Lee, and Wendell J. Lee.

Barbara was a loving grandmother to C. Lauren Durrence (Chase) and Brett M. Pinckney (Jenna). She was a doting great-grandmother to joys of her life Rylee, Laden, and Oliver Durrence and Eva and Stanley Joseph Pinckney.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in the Gartland section of the Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a donation in Barbara’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416.
