Otis Edward Beasley

OTIS EDWARD (“POP”) BEASLEY

On March 4, 2024, Otis Edward Beasley, 86, completed his earthly journey and ascended into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ed always said that he was living a very blessed life.  The son of the late W.O. Beasley and Minnie Dukes Beasley, Ed finished his school days at Commercial High School in Savannah in 1955 and began his career with Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Co.  (later Southern Bell).  He retired in 1991 after a very successful career and later became associated with MacAljon, Inc. Ed left the message, “To all my friends and coworkers, thanks for being part of my journey!”

In 1956, Ed married Barbara Mobley, and they were blessed with three daughters.

Ed was predeceased by his parents and his brother John Daniel (“Danny”) Beasley.  He leaves his loving family to carry on.  In addition to his devoted wife, Barbara, Ed is survived by his daughters, Julie Deason (Philip), Suzanne Beasley, and Becky MacMillan, Craig MacMillan, grandchildren Kristopher Rowan (Johanna), Patrick MacMillan, and Alex Proctor (Chris), four great-grandchildren, Taylor Swint, Gabriella Rowan, Kynlee MacMillan, and Claire Proctor, and his sisters, Judy Rhodes and Joan Sikes (Reggie).

Visitation will be March 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 PM at Fox & Weeks, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.  Burial will be private.

This hurts my heart. Ed was one of the good guys who would be brutally honest yet give you the shirt off his back. The many days of him being our softball “coach” for the Southern Bell team and the Bell state tournaments in Macon will always be a great memory in my life. Such great times! My thoughts and prayers for all the family.
